Solomon’s Castle is one of Florida’s most unusual attractions. Nestled in the quiet countryside of Ona, Florida, artist Howard Solomon built a whimsical castle almost entirely from recycled materials – including newspaper printing plates, scrap metal, and bicycle parts. The result is a dazzling, imaginative structure that celebrates creativity and sustainability.
Inside the castle, visitors can explore more than 300 pieces of artwork, sculptures, and stained-glass windows handcrafted by Solomon himself. The on-site restaurant, “Boat in the Moat”, is a life-sized Spanish galleon replica floating in a moat, serving homemade lunches in a truly unique setting. Guided tours share humorous stories and insights into the artist’s life and vision.
