Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve – Scenic Wetland Boardwalk & Nature Preserve in Fort Myers Florida

The highlight of the preserve is a one-mile, wheelchair-accessible boardwalk trail that guides visitors through this fragile environment. Along the way, observation points provide excellent opportunities to spot wildlife such as alligators, turtles, otters, and a wide variety of bird species.

A Changing Ecosystem

The appearance of the slough varies throughout the year. During the dry season (October to May), the landscape appears more open, while the rainy season (June to September) transforms it into a lush, water-filled environment. During this time, the slough captures and filters rainwater as it flows toward Estero Bay.
